Dayton, Ohio - May 18, 2009 - Former nurse and current attorney with the Dayton-based law firm Holzfaster, Cecil, McKnight and Mues, Anne Shale delivered an informative presentation during the Senior HelpLink Fair at Sinclair College on Saturday, May 16, 2009 concerning Health Care Advance Directives which include Living Wills and Durable Healthcare Powers of Attorney.

With experiences as a registered nurse practicing in chemical dependency and mental health nursing, Anne Shale has a unique perspective on senior health: "As the cases of Karen Ann Quinlan (New Jersey) and Terri Schiavo (Florida) illustrate, it is most important for persons to set forth their wishes for end-of-life care while they still have the capacity to make those decisions, " said Anne Shale. "We encourage all adults to have a Living Will and Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care to assist their health care providers and family members when these decisions must be made."

Shale's firm, Holzfaster, Cecil, McKnight and Mues, takes a holistic approach to law utilizing other professionals such as public accountants, real estate specialists, mortgage specialists, counselors and psychologists. In addition to Anne's perspectives as an attorney with nursing experience, it was this holistic approach to law that initially led HomeHelpLink, the Dayton-based provider of non-medical home care services for seniors and sponsor of the fair, to enlist Shale as a featured presenter.

"As America's population matures, holistic health care options are becoming more and more important not just to seniors but to their adult children," says Jacqulyn Wilson, RN, BSN and Director of Nursing for HomeHelpLink.

Seniors and families of seniors with issues relating to wills and other healthcare related questions, may contact Anne Shale by calling 937.293.2141.
